Little is known of this vampire of legends, and this golum scholar admits that he cannot even discover Astrian’s full name. Though there have been references to Astrian from as early as 250 B.C.E., these cannot possibly have referred to the same Astrian. It is the consensus of golum scholars to ascribe his birth to be sometimes in the 1700s. This orthodox view makes sense because he was clearly inducted into vampirehood in the mid-1700s, and had been human before.

There is also an alternate view that attempts to unify all accounts of Astrian’s alleged records starting from the first tablet inscriptions in 250 B.C.E. This view suggests that Astrian had been born a mage, and had undergone several cyclic deaths in the alleged millennia of his life. Indeed, the pattern of his appearances in early written history does seem to imply that his absence is due to cyclic deaths.
